Prof. Jianyu Li’s research is interdisciplinary in nature, focusing on the interface between Mechanics, Chemistry and Biomaterials. His group synergizes mechanics, materials chemistry, bioinspiration principles to develop multifunctional soft biomaterials to solve critical challenges in engineering and medicine, including tissue repair, surgical glues, hemostats, biomedical devices, etc. They also study the fundamental mechanical behaviours of soft materials, including adhesion, fracture, fatigue and stimuli-responsive behaviour.
