Biography
Now Professor of Mechanical Engineering at École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS) de l’Université du Québec, Vladimir BRAILOVSKI is currently working on a certain number of multidisciplinary R&D projects demanding an essential expertise in design, modeling, manufacturing and materials science. Since last thirty years, he has been particularly interesting in Shape Memory Alloys and their industrial applications. His interest to these remarkable materials originates from six year research fellowship at Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal with direct evolvement in numerous R&D projects focused on characterization, processing, numerical modeling and industrial applications of SMA. Since 1987 till 1993, after receiving his Ph.D from Moscow Institute of Machines and Apparatus, he worked at Polytechnic University of Omsk as professor of Mechanical Engineering, where his main field of research was ultrasonic technology and processing. Il 2001, Dr. Brailovski in collaboration with Dr. Terriault have founded at ÉTS a specialized laboratory on SMA and intelligent systems (LAMSI). Since 2015, the LAMSI team has been working on numerous projects involving additive manufacturing, which are at the forefront of mechanical design, materials science and manufacturing.
