Biography

Dr Eric Loranger is currently a professor in the department of mechanical of the UQTR and a codirector of I2E3, the Innovation Institute on Ecomaterials, Ecoproducts and Ecoenergies biomass-based. From his background in chemical engineering, pulp and paper sciences (M.Sc.A) and environmental sciences (PhD.), he has worked on various research projects, from fresh water consumption reduction up to the design of a semipilot scale sonoreactor. Now being the focus of his research, he is using power ultrasounds in nanocellulose fibres fabrication, as a pretreatment of wood chips before pyrolysis and for wood fractionation/extraction. In parallel, he is also working on nanocellulose applications in composites (organic conductor, antimicrobial, gaz barriers, etc.) and in security or bullet-proof glass assemblies.
